With Bayern Munich playing India in such a huge encounter, could a big defeat take Indian football back instead of forward, like it did during the Zambia game?
The standard of the game is such that you cannot expect anything too big . Whatever we get, we will make do. It will make us much stronger as we will not get more opponents of this kind in the AFC Challenge Cup. So its going to be a different game.
Will we get to see all the 23 players on the field?
If the substitutions are allowed, I would be happy to make changes and allow everyone to get a chance.
You’ve stuck with your veterans for the upcoming Bayern clash. However, your national camp starts after the 12th of February, so will we see a few new faces for the AFC Challenge cup?
Absolutely, if they are really performing well, and continue this performance in the upcoming rounds of the I-League, they will get selected.
Now onto the youth, have you spotted any young player? Lenn (Soumelein Doungel) of East Bengal or Manish Bhargav of Mohun Bagan to name a few….
Yes, I have seen them but they are too young and have just started playing. So I’ll say, that they’ve got a nice future.
Have they got the potential to make it to the national side in the next few years?
Yes, definitely. They have a bright future, specially Lenn. I’ve seen him play against Dempo and I’ve seen him in Goa, and I think he’s got a very bright future.
Thank you Savio for taking out some of your valuable time.
Happy to do it. It was nice talking to you.
